PRIVATE-LABEL SOURCING GUIDE
How to turn a kids’ pajama idea into a sample-ready brief.
A supplier can quote faster when the buyer separates the market decision, product specification and commercial plan. Start with the minimum information needed to make a sample decision.
1. Define the product’s actual use
State whether the product is sleepwear, loungewear or intended for both. Do not rename sleepwear as ordinary clothing to avoid destination-market requirements. Include the target age and size range.
2. Choose a development route
Available base styleUse an existing garment shape and prepare branding or packaging changes.
Reference sampleSend a physical or visual reference and identify what must change.
Tech packProvide measurements, construction, artwork, labels and bill-of-material direction.
3. Prepare the commercial frame
- Estimated units per style and colour
- Expected size split
- Destination market and buyer type
- Required delivery window
- Label, packaging and barcode requirements
- Buyer-required test or document list
4. Use the sample as a decision record
Record changes to measurements, construction, colour, print, labels and packing. The approved version should be identifiable before bulk production begins.
